Eteocles and Polynices

Poros and Penia

In Homer’s Odyssey, the Cyclops Polyphemos is the gigantic one-eyed son of Poseidon. His name means big mouth. He kills and devours six men. Trapped, Odysseos tells Polyphemos that his name is Odys, ?????, translated as “nobody”. Then he escapes after blinding the Cyclops. Polyphemos yells for help from his fellow Cyclopes that “nobody” is killing him.
