Penthesileia is an Amazonian queen, daughter of Ares and Otrera. In the Trojan war, Penthesileia begs Achilles for her life, but the hero remains unmoved by her pleas and he kills her. When Achilles removes her helmet, he falls in love with Penthesilea’s beauty.
